It seems that it’s the password protection that is choking the built-in windows ZIP. If the files are not password protected, they open without problems. What is strange is that the password protected ZIP files used to work with the built-in Windows zip until about 2 weeks ago; this issue has been reported to me by a number of different users over the last 2 weeks. Previously I could not reproduce the issue since I usually use a 3rd party tool; paseword this new computer, I was able to replicate it, so now I understand windows 10 zip password extract free download situation that causes the problem.
