Using the tool to upgrade your Windows version will not delete your files and installed apps. Run the Windows10Upgrade This is my result from the audio troubleshooter. Every suggestion I have read about this possible solution assumes Windows Audio and the Windows Audio End Point Builder services are stopped or set to something other than Automatic.
However, the Windows Services Control Panel has always indicated both services to be started and running automatically. The volume mixer does not recognize and provide volume slider control for any applications. It only provides volume control for the selected audio output. I’ve seen several comments about not being able to open the volume mixer. That has never been a problem for me. The Wizard will not launch when trying to set up the microphone from the Control Panel sound settings.
So, that’s my sad story. If anyone in the Community has any non-obvious, extraordinary suggestions that you could share, I would be most appreciative. Run the audio troubleshooter by searching “troubleshoot”. Then click on it. Next, click “other troubleshooters” Then, find “playing audio” and click on it.
