– Windows 10 home workgroup free download
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Both computers show that I’m connected to a private network. Since I have but one workgroup, and both computers are connected to that workgroup via the same router, I doubt that connection is the problem. These computers never were connected to a Homegroup. I use Windows Defender and the firewall that came with Windows I simply do not understand how inconsistent Windows 10 is in sharing files.
Those mapped drives still function. Similarly, Computer B does not show Computer A as a networked machine, even though there are networked drives. I have two home computers, both of which are members of a home workgroup. Both have Windows 10 Pro installed and activated, and both apparently have the latest updates.
Computer A has version , build Computer B has version , build Computer B has some mapped network drives for Computer A. Both are connected via Ethernet through a router connected to my ISP’s modem. I want to map some drives on Computer B as network drives on Computer A. The previously-mapped drives of Computer A show up fine on Computer B.
But Computer A does not “see” Computer B, nor any of its drives. How do I get the two computers to “see” each other? Obviously, at one time, Computer B “saw” computer A in order to map the drives. But it “sees” it no longer. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. On both computers, can you open File Explorer, go to Network, and see if there is a message near the top of the window that shows “Network discovery is turned off…. If this does show up, click on the “Network discovery is turned off” banner, then select “Turn on network discovery and file sharing”. If your network previously used HomeGroup, it has been removed from Windows 10 Version Also, do you have any third-party applications or firewall software that you have installed recently that might have affected your network?
Please reply if you have any further questions, and especially if you do not see the banner, and we can help with some other suggestions. Regards, -Ashton. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.
In reply to Ashton W’s post on December 1, In reply to KennethBush’s post on December 1, If you create lan with old network login that just has a user name and password but no email needed then your shares will not show.
They seem to be trying to us ACL like in a corporate environment and force it on home users. There are also some that say the network will block any machines from showing up if smb1 active.
Im still looking for work around. This site in other languages x.
