I have a number of emails I want to archive in case I need them for reference. I tried using the archive button. The email disappears from my inbox, but I don’t know where it’s going. I’ve posts and responses that it will ask me what folder I want my emails archived to, but I’ve never gotten that prompt. The emails just disappear and I don’t know where they are going so I can’t retrieve them later if I need to. So my question is where is this archive folder?
I’ve check all my other folders, and I don’t see the few emails I’ve already “archived”. Or does archive really mean permanently delete? To locate items in an archive Outlook Data File. And for more details , click here. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. No this response was not helpful. Joanna didn’t read my question and gave a standard pat answer.
There is no. There is with the desktop version of Outlook, but I didn’t ask about that. I asked about the archive folder in Outlook. So to give me detailed instruction to find an Outlook Data File is rather useless. So I’m still waiting for a reply from someone who reads my entire question and responds appropriately. Lastly, there is a caveat here. If, in the future, you decide that you do not want the OM default-folder Archive , to the best of my knowledge, you can delete it along with all of its contents and then recreate it later by using the above process but the old contents will be gone.
None of what anyone has suggested has offered any solution or answer to my original question. However you can close this as unanswered. I got tired of waiting on a solution. What I’m going to do is migrate all my email from each folder to another account. Then deleted all of the email and folders in my account. Once that’s done, I’ll recreate my folders and move my email back to the appropriate folders. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. In reply to imagemakers’s post on November 20, When you click the Archive button, do you get this? In reply to Toby Ornott’s post on November 23, No I don’t. I don’t recall ever using the archive button before. I didn’t have a folder called archive, so I created one thinking that’s what it was looking for. I selected a couple of emails I and hit the archive button. They didn’t appear there. I have a few other folders and the emails don’t appear in any of them. Thus my question where is the archive folder.
Perhaps a better question is where do they go if you don’t have an archive folder. In reply to imagemakers’s post on November 26, Perhaps the old messages which you selected earlier will appear somewhere. Then after you try that, Select a single message somewhere within your mailbox, mark it, and look above to the OM menu toolbar ribbon to see if Archive is presented.
If it is, then click it and see if the above popup appears. If the popup does, you will then be able to archive that particular message into either of the two possibilities, and Archive will be listed as a default-folder in your primary OM folders.
