My Windows 10 computer kept asking me to update. I kept postponing it because every time it tries to install this update I get an error message and it has to restore to a previous version. It takes a while but it restores to the way I last saw it. This time, though, it stealthily updated at night and tried to recover but it’s stuck in a boot loop. I’m lost as to what to do. I don’t want to lose all my data and I don’t want to buy a product key but I guess both are better than not having a computer.

I ran automatic repair, and when it asked me to choose a target operating system there was a blank option, and then two “Windows 10 On volume 4” options. I tried repairing all 3, and all 3 failed. Ask a new question. My Windows 10 computer kept asking me to update. Thank you. This thread is locked. The error occurs because of a problem with the Windows system registry. Unfortunately, without booting into Windows, the registry cannot be fixed, leaving the operating system inaccessible. A catch situation! To overcome this problem, you can use one of the many Windows 10 recovery options. A Windows 10 reboot loop, sometimes also called a bootloop interchangeably, can be frustrating to deal with. But what causes it? Typically, the fault can be traced back to one of these three things:.
