This will begin an HTML-based configuration walkthrough; which is nice and fairly self-explanatory, so I will just fly through these with screenshots and minor commentary on input values. Click Next and you are taken to the last screen where you get a confirmation on all the configuration settings you made, so just click on Finish as you are Ready to complete. Self-Contained Hardware Agnostic Appliances are the future and this proves how easy it can be.
Be prepared to wait a while as the vCenter Appliance sets itself up; so grab something to eat, take a bathroom break, or go for a walk around the block.
I will just show you how it ends. Curse you Flash. More information on this later. I do not have Adobe Flash installed on my computer, but trusty Internet Explorer has it baked in. Once you open the vCenter Web Client URL in a Flash-capable browser, you can login with the credentials you created and prepare to feast on the glory that is vCenter 6.
Granted, those of us who have used vCenter in the past will recognize all the familiar shortcuts and icons, but what I found impressive is that they baked in so many of these additional features into a self-contained appliance.
Update Manager — I am eyeballing you. My Home Lab was on vSphere 5. Upgrade now. So there you have it, a nice clean deployment of the VMware vCenter 6. You are missing several options in the HTML5 client; but VMware is probably furiously at work getting these converted, although we need these types of walkthroughs so we can see what is missing.

This is actually more ideal, because then it is not tied to a specific IP address, so if you follow those other walkthroughs then it might make it harder to change later.
Internet Explorer will protect you even from yourself, so always best to use hostname versus IP. Hopefully this will help others coming up in the IT world and maybe break barriers for those who feel they do not have the resources to learn some of these very complex platforms.
