The key printed on the envelope was not being accepted. I called customer service and was passed back and forth until I spoke to senior Microsoft tech support. I asked him how Microsoft could permit pirated products to be sold on such a well known website. He had no explanation but said he constantly gets calls from amazon customers who received pirated micrisoft products.
I offered to email him proof I purchased the software but he said they did not have the ability to access email. How ridiculous is it that a major software company doesn’t even give it’s employees email accounts. I also told him I was a long term Microsoft customer with an xbox live subscription going back 7 years. He said it didn’t matter and there was nothing he was willing to do. The product was pirated and that is the bottom line. I told him I was going to write a review to inform people amazon sells pirated windows software.
He indicated that was a good idea. So there you go, I guess this poor review has Microsoft’s seal of approval. Whatever you do don’t buy this from amazon. Verified Purchase. This is not a review of the Windows 10 OS, but of this specific product key and disc: I ordered this item to use the product key on my custom built PC. When I entered the key to activate Windows, I got an error stating “product key already entered,” and would not allow me to activate Windows I understand this may seem hyperbolic, but I just want to warn other people out there building your own PC–this will not activate Windows on your newly built PC booted from a USB, and this product is essentially defective.
Very disappointing. Windows Product Keys are already in use. The windows 10 home Product Key was already in use by another computer when I attempted to install windows. This is a scam do not purchase this item. I get a message saying Cannot activate product key. I get a message saying this product key has been used on another device, and it says to buy a genuine copy of Windows.

After typing in the COA to activate Windows, it said my copy was not valid. Went to Microsoft tech support page and discovered my copy is possibly counterfeit. I will be filing a complaint with Amazon.
Buyer beware. Booted from the provided Windows 10 disk and proceeded to enter the COA license under the scratch off included on the Win 10 disk envelope. Windows continuously said that the license was invalid, try again. After ten tries, I started the return process through Amazon.

Bought this ‘new’ copy of Windows I downloaded Windows 10 from Microsoft website, created files on a flash disk to install it from on my new machine. That worked and windows is on there.. Like other shoppers I was lured in by the price to find that the key was ‘already in use on another machine’ when I tried to activate. Plan B failed. Amazon held up their part of delivering promptly, thank you Amazon.
The seller however.. Shop with Microsoft themselves for an OS, lesson learned. Will be getting a key from them next. I’d previously tried one of those ‘download W10 free’ websites, which packed up after a couple of weeks and meant a full recovery back to original W7 then painful manual upgrades. After hesitating a few days, I finally bit the bullet. First I manually backed up all of my data files to an external HDD. Some reviews claimed the install would destroy all files and format the HDD – it didn’t! Then, as instructed, I inserted the DVD, took a deep breath and re-booted holding F10 on my PC – the instructions say hold F12 – depends on your own laptop.
The primary installation process went pretty smoothly. There is a window that asks if you want to upgrade or completely replace. I tried upgrade but it said you couldn’t do that, so I started a second time and selected the complete replacement option. It has worked very well. I’ve delayed a review until after 10 days of use to make sure no surprises were waiting. Since installation I have added back many downloaded and other software I had.
I’ve disabled a lot of W10 defaults that were making things slow. I’m now happy with my reborn Windows 10 laptop. And the biggest surprise of all, despite there being no option of doing a simple upgrade, and warnings that my data would be deleted, that didn’t happen.
My old Windows OS is retained in a partition called ‘Old Windows’, and all my data files on the C: drive are still there! I am therefore very satisfied with this purchase. Hoping that no nasty surprise is yet to come a few weeks down the road but to date I have no complaints. Was slightly concerned due to other reviews that I was going to receive a license that has already been used. Switched PC on and booted from the Win 10 Disk, followed instructions I decided on the Advanced install so that I could remove any Win 7 partitions, formatted the hard disk, then let it do a clean install of Win PC running very smooth and appears much faster.
I did not need to type in the license key as Win 10 activated itself during the install. All updates done. Report abuse. When I first received the Windows 10 disk I thought like the other people who did their reviews there is no Microsoft code so installing the software was impossible. I figured out there is a scratch off strip on the disk packaging, But this isn’t the end of the problems.
To read the Windows Code you need very good eye sight or a magnifying glass. Thankfully I was able to figure it out and entered the code.
